Flying witch falls into Magaya airspace

There was drama in Gweru on Wednesday morning when a suspected “witch” was caught stark naked near Gafa Stadium in Mtapa suburb by residents who took her to Mtapa police station.

The 70-year old woman, identified as Ever Tshuma, was found in the nude by residents at around three in the morning and the resultant commotion woke up a mob of people who took her to ZRP Mtapa.

A senior police officer at Mtapa confirmed that the women, said to be from, Lower Gweru, was handed over to the station by “an excited crowd” who but later released her as no one had reported her for any crime.

The police officer later referred reporters to Gweru Central Police Station but Midlands police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende was not available.

Meanwhile, the woman’s daughter, who only identified herself as Mai Gloria, said her mother was not a witch but had a history of mental illness.

“My mother had been mentally ill ever since she divorced from a polygamous relationship,” Mai Gloria said.

She added that her mother’s mental condition worsened when she discovered that her son had sold her house in Mtapa.- GWERU TODAY/NEW ZIMBABWE
