Railway
Dabuka, the National Railways of Zimbabwe and the Southern Africa’s largest marshalling yard covering 200 hectares is situated in Gweru. It has over 60kilometres of track with a capacity to handle 5000 wagons a day. It plays a pivotal role in the rail movement in the country as it is the central hub of the rail links to Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.
WATER
The city has 2 major treatment plants and 5 pumping stations with an excess capacity of 20 percent. All residents have access to reticulated sewer.
The city has 4 water supply dams with a combined storage of over 80 000 mega litres, namely Gwenoro, Whitewaters, Amapongokwe, and Ngamo. It has 2 major water treatment plants and 11 reservoirs with a retained supply capacity of 36 hours. Reticulated water is supplied to all residents.
Health And Emergency Services
The city has a total 7 primary clinics, 1 government and 2 private hospitals with a total of over 500 beds and over 20 private medical practitioners. These facilities are supported by government, municipal and other privately-run emergency services and ambulances. Council is the major emergency service provider and runs a fleet of 4 fire tenders and 5 ambulances.
